Happy New Year Everyone!

Can you just feel the fresh energy and air of 2019? We love new years and new beginnings because it’s a chance to change, to evolve and to start over. Our prayer and wish for you, is that you further step into your unique authentic power and completely own the year.

At the DreamGirls HQ, we have been very busy planning for an epic year ahead.

Last year, we were fortunate to partner with Ster Kinekor’s Vision Mission, an initiative that provides eye care for youth who need it. Ster Kinekor hosted a Christmas party for the DreamGirls Academy and awarded 27 young women with new sets of spectacles to improve their eyesight.

This has a direct impact on one’s ability to perform at school and university, so we were beyond grateful for this much-needed contribution. This year, Ster Kinekor will do more eye testing events with us, so be on the lookout for announcements, if you think you may need it.

Looking ahead, we have a very exciting year planned. We are in the process of opening up a flagship mentoring branch in Durban. We are beyond thrilled to take this essential program to another city in South Africa. We are currently recruiting mentors for the program across Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban. We will also start school roadshows next week to bring on the new 2019 cohort of future female leaders in all three cities.

2019 will also see us hosting our very first outreach program in one of our neighbouring African countries. Our vision has always been to expand our offering into other countries starting with Mother Africa and so this is an important first step to further reaching out after our own dreams. Later in the year, DreamGirls will launch STEM-focused mentorship programs to grow the pipeline of young women taking up careers in that field. We will release more information about this during the course of the year.

We are also looking forward to awarding a few more bursaries this year.

This gives you a little taster for 2019 but there’s lots more in store.

We want to take this opportunity to thank you for supporting and championing our cause. Your involvement and encouragement keep us going and so we hope that you will stay tuned and plugged in as we journey this sisterhood to our next level.

If you are a DreamGirls alumnus, we hope to see you at our next event. Information will be shared soon.

Yours in Sisterhood,

The Mother Board
